Actor Anthony Michael Hall is facing a battery charge after allegedly assaulting one of his neighbors on Sunday, outside of his Los Angeles condominium.
Newsday reports that surveillance footage from September 13 shows a man that appears to be Hall, 48, engaging in a physical confrontation with another man at the Playa del Rey condominiums. The ordeal only lasted a few minutes before Hall walked away, but reportedly, the neighbor suffered a broken wrist and a hurt back, stemming from the assault. The neighbor called 911 and said the fight occurred after Hall became angered when asked to close a gate. According to police, Hall slammed the gate before attacking the neighbor.

So far, Hall hasn’t denied nor acknowledged the incident.
In 2011, the actor was in a similar situation when he was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, after he reportedly tore up plants in the common area of the same condominium. He also reportedly yelled at residents, banged on doors, and challenged another resident to a fight. The resident declined, but promptly phoned the police, and said that Hall threatened to, “beat him to a pulp.”
Hall is arguably best remembered for his roles as a nerd and a “geek” in the 1980s films, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles. For fans of the films, it’s difficult to imagine Hall engaging in physical confrontations when he’s remembered for his mouth full of braces and slight build.
For the most recent altercation, the Los Angeles County D.A charged Hall with felony battery with great bodily injury. If convicted, he could face four to seven years behind bars.
