A mother and her daughter were found dead today in their Moundville, Alabama, home. Reports indicate that the suspect accused of killing them, shot himself shortly after.

WVUA reports that the mom and daughter, whose names are still unconfirmed, were found lifeless in a home off of Market Street. Two young children that were in the home, unharmed, found the victims and called the police.

According to Moundville Police Chief Toby Banks, police think that the mother’s estranged boyfriend is likely responsible. Shortly after their deaths, he shot himself, but survived. He was taken the to the DCH Regional Medical Center.

The shootings happened Wednesday night. It’s the second time violence has erupted in the area. Banks stated that on Christmas Day, a man killed his wife inside their home, in the same neighborhood as the latest deaths.

“It’s traumatizing to the community. Because we’ve had something happen again, similar to what happened right around Christmas.”

The story is still developing. Check back for updates.
