Teacher kisses students, claims his ‘tongue accidentally went in their mouth’

Pete Garcia Hernandez is facing criminal charges

A former substitute teacher in Houston charged with inappropriate contact with elementary school students is claiming it was all an accident.

Pete Garcia Hernandez, 49, was charged with three counts of indecency with a child after multiple reports from parents of his first-grade students that he had kissed and touched them inappropriately. According to court documents obtained by KHOU, students in the class reported that Hernandez had kissed them on the mouth, sat them on his lap, and touched their chests.

Hernandez reportedly denied the accusations at first, but then admitted he had been “speaking close with [the students] and his tongue accidentally went in their mouth,” according to court documents. In those documents, he also eventually admitted to having sexual thoughts about the young students as they were sitting on his leg.

The investigation began in November when parents came forward with the allegations. Hernandez was removed from the classroom at the time, but frustrated parents demanded the case be investigated further, and complained to KHOU that school district officials were not taking the allegations seriously enough. Hernandez is now facing criminal charges of three counts of indecency with a child.
