UPDATE: Jamie Lynn Spears’ husband: ‘Maddie is doing better’

On Tuesday, Jamie Lynn Spears’ husband took to social media to provide an uplifting update on Maddie Aldridge’s condition.

“Thank you to everyone for the prayers. Maddie is doing better and better. Thank y’all so much,” Jamie Watson wrote alongside a shirt with the words “believe in miracles.”

A family representative told People that Maddie, 8, is awake and talking.

The spokesperson claimed she woke up on Tuesday afternoon and is currently breathing on her own. Doctors determined the girl hasn’t suffered any neurological injuries stemming from the incident.

“She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident,” the rep commented.

Along with Spears and her husband, Maddie’s father, Casey Aldridge has been at his daughter’s side since the accident, the magazine also reported.

As Crime Online reported Monday, Maddie was seriously injured when her ATV flipped over and fell into a pond during a hunting expedition in Kentwood, Louisiana on Sunday. Originally listed in serious condition, the 8-year-old supposedly spent considerable time underwater before first responders were able to free her.

A statement released by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department claimed the accident occurred in front of Spears and Watson.  A report obtained by USA Today also claimed the pair and other family members attempted to retrieve the child from the pond but were unsuccessful.

Paramedics were able to resuscitate Maddie. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital to undergo life-saving treatment.

“The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting,” the report revealed. “Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.”

The rep also claimed the 8-year-old is under close supervision and is receiving oxygen as she recovers.
