Life cut short: Woman accused of stabbing fiance to death with scissors

The suspect had a clean criminal history before the shocking murder

An Alabama woman has been charged in the death of her fiance, who she allegedly stabbed to death with a pair of scissors.

According to the Dothan Eagle, 21-year-old Cedricka Jacole Thornton was taken into custody Thursday morning, shortly after she is believed to have stabbed Devontay Vashon Davis, who was 20, in a Dothan, Alabama, apartment. The two were reportedly engaged to be married.

The murder weapon was identified as scissors, and a motive had not yet been determined. According to the newspaper, neither Thornton nor Davis had any criminal history.

Neighbors were shocked to hear about the crime. One, Michelle Jackson, told WTYV 4 that the victm’s nickname was “meatloaf.”

“He’s my older son’s best friend and he’s like a son to me,” Jackson said.

According to the news station, Thornton is being held on $60,000 bond.
