A Dallas man was arrested after allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, and fatally stabbing her new boyfriend with a butcher knife.
Darron Taylor, 31, is accused of forcing his way into his ex’s apartment in the 2400 block of Bickers Street on February. 8, according to a report by Dallas News. He began to punch her before her boyfriend, Andrew Donnell, stepped in. Taylor retrieved a lamp from another room and began to strike Donnell with it. He then went after his ex.
She attempted to flee, but Taylor pushed her to the ground and started to choke her. Taylor threatened the woman, saying that he was going to kill her.
“You’re going to die today.”
She was able to get away to call the police, leaving Donnell in the apartment. She said that as she left, she saw Taylor get a butcher knife from the kitchen and walk over to her boyfriend.
When police arrived on the scene, the woman was standing outside of her apartment shaking, crying, and visibly injured. Her face was bleeding and one of her fingers had cut marks. At that point, Taylor walked out of the apartment covered in blood.
Donnell, 31, was found lying in a pool of blood in his girlfriend’s bedroom. He was taken to a hospital for his injuries, but he died on Monday.
Taylor was treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital and taken to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains incarcerated. He said that he did force his way into the woman’s apartment, but that he didn’t attack his ex-girlfriend. He alleged that the altercation actually began in the parking lot outside of the apartment, where Donnell stabbed him first.
Taylor followed Donnell to the apartment, and kicked the door in. He claimed Donnell stabbed him again when he entered the apartment. He said he believed that Donnell ran away.
Taylor was charged with burglary and capital murder.
