Her family and friends have been trying to contact her and called police after their attempts to reach her failed. In early reporting on the case, investigators believe there is some indication that Barahona-Rivas may be in the New Jersey area.
Montgomery County police said the 18-year-old is the cousin of 15-year-old Alexandra Reyes, a young woman who was found dead in Springfield, Virginia, earlier this month. Ten other people have already been arrested in connection with her death. Gaithersberg ABC7 reports that this may be a gang-related killing.
The 18-year-old Barahona-Rivas is described as five foot three inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds. When she left work on Saturday, she was wearing a tan shirt, tan skirt, a gray jacket, black boots, and carrying a pink purse.
