A 55-year-old woman was shot in a donut shop Saturday morning after a man’s gun fell from his clothing, discharged, and a bullet hit the woman. The Florida man is now facing negligence charges.

The accidental shooting took place in a Dunkin’ Donuts in Coconut Creek, Florida at around 8:30 a.m., according to a report by NBC Miami. The 55-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The man, later identified as Randy Barroso, 38, reportedly fled the scene in a white Mazda. He later surrendered to police after arriving with his lawyer.

The report read that Barroso cooperated with police and made a statement saying that he did not purposely discharge the firearm.

Barroso was arrested and charged with culpable negligence and he was booked into the Broward County jail on $500 bond.

Dunkin’ Donuts reportedly made a statement about the incident regarding the safety of its employees and customers.

“The safety and well-being of crew members and customers are our top priority. We are working with our franchisee who is cooperating fully with the police investigating this incident.”

The Daily Mail reported that Barroso had a concealed carry permit. He has no previous criminal record.
