Police: Texas track coach sets his former home on fire

A Texas high school track coach is facing arson charges after reportedly setting his former house on fire.

The Star-Telegram reports that Michael Graham Long, 58, was arrested outside of a track meet on Thursday at Keller Fossil Ridge High School in Weatherford. According to city spokesperson, Blake Rexroat, the Weatherford fire marshal’s office began an investigation into a Weatherford home fire around three months ago, the home that Long once lived in.

No additional details were given about the incident, but the Keller school district put Long on administrative leave shortly after his arrest. Fossil Ridge principal David Hadley sent out an email stating that Long didn’t have any disciplinary actions at the school.

“A review of the employee’s personnel file, references, and background checks reveal no previous concerns.”

Long faces a first-degree felony charge of “arson involving a habitation or place of worship.” He was released from the Parker County jail on a $25,000 bond.
