Although he wasn’t home, police were seen at Richard Simmons’ Beverly Hills estate on Wednesday, just a day after he broke his three year silence to inform fans about his gastrointestinal issues.
Simmons was in the hospital at the time the police showed up at his house. They searched the premises for no obvious reason, reports TMZ.
The report said that there was a car accident earlier in the week in the same area, but it’s unlikely that this had anything to do with Simmons’ property since the wreck had already been taken care of.

TMZ said it’s also unlikely that the visit was a welfare check since the LAPD knew that Simmons was in the hospital.
ABC News reported that on Monday, Simmons was hospitalized for “severe indigestion.”
His spokesman Michael Catalano made a statement explaining why the fitness guru was sent to the hospital.
“Richard Simmons was hospitalized on Monday at an undisclosed location in California. After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment.”
Simmons is expected to make a full recovery.
The celebrity made a statement on Facebook Wednesday letting his fans know that he’s doing okay.
“Well by now you know that I’m not ‘missing,’ just a little under the weather. I’m sure I will be feeling good and back home in a couple of days.”
Fans were so worried about the whereabouts of Simmons that even a podcast called “Missing Richard Simmons” was created.
Simmons said that the incident reminded him that when you need help, it’ okay to ask for it.
“This has reminded me that when you need help you can’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it. We all think we should always be able to solve our problems all by ourselves and sometimes it’s just bigger than we are.”
