San Luis Obispo perv held on $7 million bail in mounting child molestation case

“The biggest case of child sex abuse in the history San Luis Obispo”

Jason Robert Porter, 44, of Paso Robles, California, is being held on $7 million bail and faces 59 counts –  including at least seven counts lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, at least five counts of oral copulation/sexual penetration with a victim 10 years old or younger, and at least nine counts of using a concealed camera to record a person’s body or undergarments.

Porter was initially arrested last June after a friend of his found him taking photos of himself molesting her 6-year-old daughter in the child’s bed. Authorities responded to the home following reports of a disturbance.

According to local news station KEYT, “The girl’s mother took immediate action to protect her daughter and then alerted other adults in the home, which led to the disturbance and the call” to the Paso Robles Police Department.

Investigations at that time indicated Porter had previously committed a lewd act with the same child on a previous occasion. He was subsequently arrested and booked on felony charges of “Possession of Child Pornography and Lewd Act with a Child under 14 Years of Age. ”

Following Porter’s arrest, police seized computers and other devices from the home he shared with his parents and discovered images of him molesting at least nine young girls. In addition, authorities discovered tens of thousands of images and videos of child pornography, equaling two terabytes.

Police tracked Porter to South Pasadena, California, and arrested him on 23 various charges of crimes against children, and set his bail at $7 million.

Since then, charges have mounted against Porter, who was ordered to stand trial following testimony alleging that he held down a 4-year-old girl while he performed oral sex on her, according to CalCoastNews.com.

During Porter’s re-arraignment on April 24, he was formally charged with 59 felony counts ranging from committing lewd acts with a child, oral copulation with a child, using a concealed camera, using a device to see through clothing, and possessing material depicting a child engaged in sexual acts, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Porter is believed to have molested or secretly recorded more than 40 people, with most of his victims between the ages of one and four years old. Porter reportedly installed hidden cameras in the bathroom of his family home and used a shoe camera to take photos under women’s skirts.

Porter lived with his parents, Lyle and Margaret Porter. His father is a former principal at Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School and his mother was fired from her position as vice principal at Old Mission Catholic School following her son’s arrest prompted parents to threaten to unregister their children from the school.

Porter’s next court date is May 15.
