Tysen Benz Update: Girl accused of tricking 11-yr-old into killing himself didn’t show up for his funeral

Tysen Benz’s mother recently appeared on the Dr. Phil show and revealed disturbing details about the teen girl accused of pushing Tysen to commit suicide.

On March 14, 11-year-old Tysen hanged himself in a closet in his family’s Ann Arbor, Michigan, home. He was taken to the hospital afterward but died three weeks later. Apparently, the boy fell victim to a cruel Facebook prank and that was reportedly encouraged to by his 13-year-old girlfrined. The incident occurred after Tysen was told his girlfriend killed herself when in actuality, she was unharmed and allegedly behind the fatal “joke.”

Tysen’s mother, Katrina Goss, told Dr. Phil that the teen suspect not only failed to attend the boy’s funeral, but she went to school the following day as if nothing had happened. Further, Goss said that not even one person from the girl’s family has contacted her since Tysen’s death. Goss thinks that the prank was an intentional plot to get her son to kill himself, and that the girl knew Tysen would likely go through with it, but did nothing to stop him.

“I actually do feel that it was intentional, just from things I’ve gathered and information, but I do feel that that was her intention.”

The teen girl is now facing one misdemeanor count of telecommunication services-malicious use and one count of using a computer to commit a crime, which could be either a felony or misdemeanor charge.

The full episode of Dr. Phil and Goss airs on Monday at 3 p.m. EST.
