Anthony Weiner turns himself in, will plead guilty to sexting a 15-year-old girl

Disgraced New York Congressman Anthony Weiner will plead guilty to sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl.

According to the New York Post, Weiner surrendered to the FBI Friday morning and is expected to plead guilty to one count of  of transferring obscene material to a minor. The guilty plea is a part of a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan.

Weiner, 51, had been accused of sending 15-year-old North Carolina girl sexually explicit messages beginning in January 16. He was married to Huma Abedin, an aide for Hillary Clinton, at the time. She has since filed for divorce

The New York Post reports that Weiner is unlikely to be sentenced to the maximum penalty of 10 years behind bars. But he may be required to register as a sex offender.

Weiner has admitted to struggling with sex addition and sought professional treatment after the sexting allegations were exposed last year.

The victim told the Daily Mail that Weiner knew she was a minor, and said that some of the communication, which reportedly went on for several month, contained violent implications.

“He had some rape fantasies. It would just be him showing up at my house when my dad was out of town,” the girl told the Daily Mail. “And just start undressing me, being forceful, asking me if I want to be dominated, strange questions.”

Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after he was found to have sent sexually explicit photos to a woman on Twitter.
