Steve Harvey’s ex-wife sues for $60 million for ‘murdering’ her soul

Comedian and Family Feud host Steve Harvey was hit with a $60 million dollar lawsuit by his ex-wife for damaging her “soul” and subjecting her to torture during and following their nine-year marriage.

Not only is Mary Harvey (née Shackelford) claiming that Steve, 60, murdered her soul, court documents acquired by Us Weekly revealed she is suing her ex for child endangerment, torture, conspiracy against rights, kidnapping, breach of contract, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

“Soul murdering is a crime, not a diagnosis,” Shackelford said in the filing. “Soul murder is achieved by a combination of torture, deprivation, and brainwashing.”

Though the couple split in 2005, TMZ reported that the comedian’s ex filed the lawsuit on Wednesday. The pair have a 19-year-old son.

“Mr. Harvey vehemently denies any allegations set forth in the lawsuit. The complaint is meritless, frivolous, and the allegations are completely false. We will vigorously defend/counterclaim against the complaint,” Harvey’s lawyer, Brandon Williams, told TMZ on Thursday.

Mary has been vocal about the messy divorce in the past. In January 2011, she supposedly took to Youtube to expose her ex’s cheating ways. Mary alleged in the video that the nationally syndicated radio host left her broke, evicted her, and turned their son against her, according to the Los Angeles Times. At one point in the video, Mary recalled an instance when she confronted Marjorie Bridges for having an affair with her husband. Bridges and Steve wed in 2007.

The Times reported that a Texas judge ordered the videos taken down in February 2011. The judge also temporarily lifted a gag order involving their divorce, allowing lawyers to release documents that challenged Mary’s allegations. The redacted documents revealed that Mary was awarded three homes in the divorce, a $1.5 million settlement, and a $40,000-a-month allowance until 2009. The court also supposedly gave Steve full custody because Mary “willingly” put their then-13-year-old son on a plane back to his father.

In December 2013, Mary was arrested and sentenced to 30 days in jail after being found in contempt of court for revealing details of their divorce.

Back in April, Mary released a series of videos claiming that she never received a divorce settlement, according to Entertainment Tonight.

She supposedly said in one of the videos:

“Steve Harvey owes me $50 million and I want him arrested for violating my civil rights. I want him charged with a constitutional rights violation, falsifying documents, perjury, contempt of court, embezzlement, extortion, and collusion. For what he’s done to me, I want to see Steve Harvey behind bars.”

Despite this, Mary’s recent suit rehashes prior allegations: That she was physically and emotionally destroyed after losing her son, her businesses, and Mother’s Days. She says the trauma, supposedly carried out by the comedian, has left her suicidal and coping through self-medication.

She wrote, “All was loss (sic) Mary L. Harvey was dead.”
