Police: Toddler dies after mom’s boyfriend uses ‘wrestle moves’ on a 2-year-old

A little girl was reportedly lifted in the air and body slammed to the ground.

A toddler in St. Louis, Missouri, is dead after police say a woman’s boyfriend picked the child up and slammed her to the ground. Both the baby’s mother and her boyfriend were arrested on Tuesday.

The New York Post reports that Richard Gamache Jr., 24, reportedly picked up the little girl, 2, by the waist, lifted her above his shoulders, and threw her so hard on the ground that she died from injuries. The incident happened on May 16. The little girl was taken to hospital with seizures and died three days later.

Police tracked down “digital data” between Gamache and the child’s mother, 19-year Cheyenne Cook, which allegedly revealed that not only did Gamache body slam the little girl in a wrestling-style fashion, but that they attempted to conceal what he did afterwards.

“This child was essentially tortured,” Jefferson County Sheriff David Marshak said.

Gamache is facing a charge of abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death while Cook is facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

FOX 2 Now reports that the toddler’s organs were been donated to Children’s Hospital. Her family launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses.
