Man wanted for child endangerment after photo surfaces of him holding baby on the gas tank of a motorcycle

A photo of man on a motorcycle in Texas, riding with a baby lying on the gas tank, was shared on social media on Monday, prompting authorities to take action.

In a photo posted on Facebook and obtained by the Houston Chronicle, a man, identified as Anthony Braddick Welsh, 30, was seen on a motorcycle on a public highway, with a baby lying in front of him on the motorcycle’s gas tank. The photo caused such a stir among social media users that it spurred Liberty County authorities file a warrant for his arrest for felony child endangerment charges.

Welsh was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for outstanding traffic warrant before the child endangerment charges were filed. However, he has since bonded out of jail, and now, officers are having a difficult time locating him again.

“Deputies have made numerous day and night runs on his reported address in an effort to arrest Welsh but thus far no arrest has been made,” said Capt. Ken DeFoor of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities reported that they arrested Welsh for traffic warrant at his home in Tarkington, but so far, the suspect hasn’t returned back to his residence.

The photo was taken by a witness who saw Welsh riding the motorcycle with the infant on Memorial Day. The witness immediately snapped a photo of him and shared it on Facebook. The photo went viral and caught the attention of media and law enforcement alike.

Welsh is described as a white male, standing six feet two inches tall and weighing around 230 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a black Ford Mustang or a blue pickup truck with welding equipment in the back bed of the vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
