Police release 911 calls after toddler drowns in pool; Mom charged with felony murder

Bartow County, Georgia, authorities released the 911 calls made to the sheriff’s office after a 3-year-old toddler drowned in a family pool.

Bobbie Jessica Prather, 32, was arrested and charged with felony murder after her toddler son was found unconscious in an an above ground swimming pool on May 28. According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department, the murder charge came after police found evidence that Prather left four children, the 3-year old boy, a 4-year-old, and 1-year-old twins home alone for over 14 hours.

The children were left without food, safety, adult supervision, and other “necessary functions” to help them. Along with felony murder, Prather is also facing four felony charges of cruelty.

Sheriff’s office investigators and the Bartow County Fire Department and EMS arrived at a home located off of Peeples Valley Road on May 29, where they found the little boy not breathing and void of a pulse. Paramedics reported that the child was in the water for hours, making resuscitation impossible. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
