Police: Innocent tot pulled a loaded gun from his toy box as officers searched the home for signs of possible neglect by mother

Florida police have arrested Rosalyn Faniel, 34, after her 3-year-old son pulled out a loaded gun from his toy box as they investigated the home for possible child neglect.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the tot simply wanted to show the officers his toys. Instead, police say, he produced a black 9mm semi-automatic pistol, with a bullet in the chamber and the safety off.

Police quickly took the gun away from the toddler. Faniel is alleged to have said the gun was not hers and that she did not know it was in the apartment, according to FOX 8.

That wasn’t the only item of contraband that authorities found in her home. Police say they also found a yellow box of 9mm ammunition on top of the refrigerator and a pink makeup bag filled with six plastic bags of white and pink powder.

According to the official report, these bags tested positive for Oxycodone, a narcotic. Investigators have noted that each plastic bag weighed .1 grams, bringing the total weight to .6 grams.

Authorities were already suspicious that illicit drugs were being sold from the apartment, as they had received several complaint from neighbors, according to NBC 6. They had also received complaints regarding possible child neglect.

The 34-year-old was arrested on a charge of child neglect and her bond was set at $3,000. She was also charged with failure to appear in court and for violating release conditions, due to a previous arrest. Online court records state that she has made bail and will face a judge on July 13.
