WATCH: Pregnant woman mows down would-be purse thief with SUV in Walmart parking lot

“I wasn’t going to let him get away with it”

A pregnant North Carolina woman has admitted to chasing down a man with her SUV after she caught him trying to run off with her purse in an Asheville Walmart parking lot.

“I jumped in the car, threw it in gear and came across the curb and ran over him,” Christine Braswell told News 13. “I wasn’t going to let him get away with it.”

News 13 obtained exclusive video of Braswell chasing the would-be purse thief, in which she appears quite determined to catch up to him.

Braswell and other witnesses told the news station they saw the suspected thief, Robert Raines, rummaging through Braswell’s SUV. When she confronted him, he reportedly tried to run off with her purse, spilling some items as he ran away.

She told News 13 her first thought was to run after him, but decided to get behind the wheel and chase him because she’s pregnant.

Raines reportedly suffered minor injuries, and Braswell has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Raines has reportedly been charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny and misdemeanor damage to property.
