‘He can barely walk. He’s old’: Senior citizen allegedly beat a perpetrator to death while defending himself during a botched home invasion

Police are saying that Brooklyn resident Cecil Brown, pictured above, beat a would-be burglar to death during a botched home invasion, according to NY Daily News.

The NYPD responded to a 911 call for an assault in progress and found a 48-year-old with head injuries, which were reportedly sustained after a run-in with the home’s resident. He was taken to the hospital and passed away, as reported by PIX11.

A preliminary investigation found the unnamed 48-year-old man allegedly broke into the apartment where the 69-year-old Brown lived, police said. After a struggle between both men, the older man allegedly struck the other man on the head, killing him.

The building superintendent, Danny Anglin, suggested that Brown may have let the man in, as the front door remained intact.

“I walked by the door and it wasn’t broken,” he told reporters. “He has a nurse that visits him. I don’t know what happened.”

One of Brown’s neighbors was absolutely floored that he was able to take out a man nearly half his age.

He can barely walk. He’s old,” 78-year-old Tim Manson said. “He gets around in a walker. How could he do that?”

Another neighbor, Roschada Hopson, told reporters that nobody managed to hear anything resembling a deadly scuffle.

“Police told us that there was a murder,” she said. “It’s shocking. None of us heard anything.”

Cecil Brown was taken to the hospital and is recovering, after receiving a number of cuts on his body. This is an active investigation and police are still questioning the 69-year-old.
