Police have arrested a Florida man after he allegedly shot at some AT&T trucks that were parked in front of his home, according to Daily Mail.
Jorge Jove, 64, became agitated when the trucks were parked in front of his driveway. That’s when he began shooting, police have indicated.
Jove, who worked as a firefighter for 34 years, allegedly shot two of the utility vehicles, blowing out their tires and damaging their engines.
AT&T technician Derrick Taylor captured the entire thing on video, including his harrowing call to 911.
“He’s shooting the truck right now. There’s a guy shooting the tires and shooting the engines and everything,’ Taylor can be heard saying.
Hialeah Police Detective Carl Zogby spoke to NBC 6 and expressed disbelief with the 64-year-old’s alleged actions.
“He just lost his mind for a moment. We don’t know what the deal is with him,” he said. “Now, as part of the investigation, we’re going to find out if he’s got any history and what his problem is. But this was totally uncalled for.”
Zogby noted that AT&T workers told the man they’d move the trucks as soon as they were done with repairs, but that wasn’t soon enough for the retired firefighter.
“He went back into his house, came out a few moments later with a gun and started firing at both AT&T trucks that were on the scene.”
Luckily, nobody was injured, a fact echoed by Olga Ramos, the mother of one of the two AT&T employees involved in the incident.
“Thank God my son is OK,” she said. “They weren’t doing anything wrong. They were just doing their job.”
AT&T has released a statement on the shooting, saying “We’re grateful nobody was hurt, and we’re working with law enforcement in their investigation.”
Jove has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and two counts of felony vandalism. He was released from jail after posting his bond, which was $30,000.
