Police have arrested a Connecticut man after he reportedly tried to murder his own parents, according to NBC CT.
Patrick Kiraly, 29, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly committing a series of horrific actions. Police say he punched his mother and choked her until she nearly passed out. His father heard the commotion and tried to intervene, separating the two, according to authorities. That’s when Kiraly allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and threatened his father with it.
All of this happened while Kiraly’s own 2-year-old son was inside of the home, as reported by WTNH. It has not been noted if the young boy witnessed the violent episode or if he was shut inside of a room.
After the alleged brutality, police say Kiraly left the house, picking his toddler son up and taking him along. His father immediately called 911 and investigators responded, finding the 29-year-old at home early Saturday morning. He was arrested and his son was placed with concerned family members.
Kiraly’s mother was evaluated on the scene and refused further medical attention, Officer Michael DeVito told Hartford Courant.
Kiraly has been charged with criminal attempt to commit attempted murder, risk of injury, second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and reckless endangerment. Police have not announced a possible motive for the brutal attack, though it has been indicated that Kiraly and his mother were arguing over details regarding care for his young child.
He is being held on bail of $250,000 and will appear in a Milford court on Monday.
