Vermont police have apprehended a teenager and charged him with seven felony accounts of sexual assault, according to Daily Mail.
Conner Tatro, 16, has been accused of sexually assaulting five female students at the prestigious Thetford Academy, authorities have noted. The alleged attacks occurred all over campus, including a bathroom, the baseball field and a wooded area near the school.
These attacks range from groping to rape, according to investigators. The alleged attacks vary in severity, one girl claiming she was pushed against a wall and another saying she was choked after she refused to give Tatro oral sex.
Police started investigating the allegations last month when the girls, ages 15 and 16, came forward with their claims of sexual assault.
The 16-year-old is being tried as an adult, due to the severity of the alleged crimes.
Assistant Orange County State’s Attorney Dickson Corbett IV wrote about the decision to try Tatro as an adult in a criminal affidavit obtained by Valley News.
“The allegations of this case fit within an exception for serious offenses — these charges can be filed in the adult criminal division, where there is broader range of outcomes that can be tailored to meet the seriousness of the offense and the needs of justice,” he wrote.
The teenager has pleaded non-guilty on all counts. He was arraigned at Vermont Superior Court on Wednesday and released into the custody of his mother.
Thetford Academy, which costs $19,000 per year, has noted that Tatro has been banned from campus. He has also been ordered not to have any contact with girls under the age of 18 without supervision.
