Police have made an arrest after a Michigan father was stabbed to death as he allegedly protected his son from a group of violent bullies, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
Robert Briscoe, 49, was killed Sunday night while trying to break up an altercation between the bullies and his son, according to police. Neighbors told reporters that the suspects had destroyed property and caused a disturbance at the Huron Estates mobile home park an hour before the alleged stabbing. The group is said to have left and returned at 10:30 p.m. when a fight erupted in the street.
An unnamed 18-year-old has been accused of stabbing Briscoe as he tried to disperse the fight, which involved one of his sons, according to WJBK. Police caught up to the suspects during a traffic stop. The alleged stabber was arrested while the other three suspects were detained until investigators identified their role in the deadly scuffle.

“He was obviously concerned for his kids. He was protecting his kids. Something really needless made a lot of people lose a father a grandfather and husband—it just didn’t have to happen,” Huron Township’s Director of Public Safety Everette Robbins said.
The public safety director claimed that the 18-year-old intentionally stabbed Briscoe, mentioning that “it doesn’t appear to be accidental.” Robbins also said authorities are currently investigating a motive.
Briscoe, a longtime appliance technician, was a father of five and grandfather of three, WJBK has noted.
The slain man’s family started a GoFundMe to help cover his funeral expenses. The campaign has brought in more than $4,500 as of Tuesday evening.
The 18-year-old alleged murderer remains in custody.
