A Houston, Texas, woman is accused of fatally shooting her common-law husband in the groin after seeing him with another woman.
Police said Debra Davis, 58, was in a car when she wounded Rodney Johnson, 49, outside of his girlfriend’s home. KTRK reported that Johnson was shot once in the lower torso and later died at a hospital. The other woman was present during the shooting but wasn’t injured.
“I heard one gun shot, and I came out and he was already lying there in the street. We tried to do CPR and…it was already over by the time he was transported,” a neighbor told the station.

Residents claimed they’ve seen Johnson and the other woman together on several occasions. They said the unnamed woman would ride her bike to meet with Johnson.
Davis, who allegedly fled the scene, turned herself in on Wednesday morning. Houston police claimed she admitted to her role in Tuesday night’s shooting, according to KHOU.
The victim’s cousin, Robert Johnson, told the station that Rodney lived with Davis but would meet other women in neighboring cities.
“His girlfriend came and she shot him because he’s messing around with women,” Robert said. “You know these things are love things.”
However, Davis is married to another man. Court documents obtained by the Houston Chronicle revealed that she filed for divorce from her husband of 30 years in September 2016. The couple, who have adult children, separated in July 2016.
Davis is facing murder charges. She has yet to be arraigned.
