He Lived, She Died: Police investigate wife’s murder, husband’s attempted suicide in Pine Bluff

A woman in her 70s is dead and her husband hospitalized in what appears to be a botched murder-suicide attempt.

ABC 7 reports that police responded to George Kelsey’s home after Kelsey, 73, called 911 to say that he had shot his wife, Mickie, 74, and also shot himself.

Police found George sitting on the couch talking with bullet wound to his chest. Mickie was found dead of a shotgun wound in the same room.

Authorities have not yet released a possible motive for the murder. Mr. Kelsey is expected to have surgery, and it is not yet known if police are planning to file charges.

Late last month, a New York City couple in their 50s jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor of a  Madison Avenue office building where they both worked in an chiropractor’s office. Both had a suicide note in their pockets, blaming their decision on overwhelming financial problems. They were found to have owed thousands in back taxes and a lien of over $200,000. Friends remembered the couple as kind and extremely generous with their time and resources.
