When a North Carolina mom of three noticed someone racked up $600 on her credit card, she took it upon herself to confront the person she felt responsible.
Courtney Parks, 27, went through the drive thru at the Kannapolis Steak n’ Shake, where she paid for her meal with a credit card. The next day, she noticed her card had been used to purchase items from a beauty story and a clothing store, among others. She hadn’t used her card since she went to the restaurant. All charges on the card were made between 11 a.m. and 4 a.m., to places such as Sally’s Beauty Supply, a gas station, and electric company, and more.
Parks decided to find out who took her order the previous night by filling out a customer survey card. She then call the businesses that charged her card and determined that products were being mailed in the employee’s name and an electric bill was paid at the employee’s residence.
Parks also filed a police report, but she decided to confront the female worker who took her order the previous day. A friend recorded the incident and posted it to her Facebook page, and the video went viral almost immediately.
“I was buying burgers for my family and you stole everything I had in my bank account,” Parks yelled as she confronted the employee, identified as Peandra Winn, 28.
At first Winn denied it and told her employer she had no idea what Parks was talking about.
“You know you did it. Don’t be a liar. Don’t make me act foul in here,” Parks said.
“I’m sorry about that, I’m willing to pay all your money back,” Winn replied.
So this happened. Steak and shake kannapolis. Courtney Parks
Parks brought her children with her to the restaurant because she wanted the employee to see the faces of the kids she stole from, according to Daily Mail.
“I know people are wondering why I decided to go up there with my children, but I wanted her to see who she stole from.”
Steak n’ Shake declined to comment. It’s unclear if Winn still works there.
