What is going on?! Father faces rape charges after both of his sons convicted of sexually assaulting children

Michigan police have arrested a man and charged him with rape, as reported by BattleCreekEnquirer.

Arthur Lyen French, 55, of Battle Creek, was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is charged with raping a woman in August 2009 and was picked up as part of the Calhoun County Sexual Assault Kit Investigation by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

The unnamed woman told authorities that she had known French for some time and the rape occurred when he trapped her in her own home on the morning of August 18 2009. Investigators have indicated that the woman suffered multiple injuries from the alleged assault, including a perforated eardrum.

“This was a violent felony,” Special Assistant Attorney General Michelle Richardson told Magistrate Joe Brutsche at the afternoon arraignment for French. “This occurred in 2009 but an additional investigation was opened after the testing of the rape kits last year.”

While French’s case is just beginning, his sons are already in prison for committing similar acts of sexual violence.

In May, one of his sons, Scott French, 30, was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison after pleading no contest to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving two young sisters, who were just 8- and 9-years-old, as reported by Detroit Free Press.

In July, Allen French, 33, was also sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison after pleading no contest to assaulting the same two sisters, in addition to raping a 16-year-old girl after she disembarked a school bus.

Their father also has a lengthy criminal record, with four prior domestic violence convictions under his belt and a whopping 17 misdemeanor convictions. Battle Creek police note they have arrested the 55-year-old more than 40 times.
