Stone Cold: Mom dumps ant-baby, doesn’t ‘want to be a mother’

A young woman who allegedly left her newborn baby girl naked in a pile of dirt and ants made her first court appearance Wednesday, where she reportedly told a judge she did want to see her daughter and did not want to be a mother.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Sidney Woytasczyk, 21, gave birth late last week in her kitchen in Harris County, Texas, cut the umbilical cord, and then dumped the naked baby in a flower bed. A neighbor found the infant, crying and covered in dirt and ants, several hours later, after Woytasczyk had gone back inside her home and went to sleep. The baby girl reportedly suffered a bacterial infection but is expected to recover.

On Monday, prosecutors charged Woytasczyk with child abandonment and she appeared in court on Wednesday.

According to Click2Houston, Woytasczyk admitted to giving birth and abandoning the baby.

“She described the delivery,” the prosecutor reportedly said.

“The officer asked if she had a boy or a girl and she stated, ‘A girl.’ The defendant stated she went outside without wrapping it. She did cut the cord.”

Prosecutors also claimed in court that Woytasczyk said she did not want to be a mother and did not want to see her child, according to Chron.com.

Woytasczyk had previously said that she did not know she was pregnant and tried to hide the birth from her boyfriend because she was afraid it would damage their relationship. Authorities have said they do not believe she is telling the truth about not realizing she was pregnant.

The baby’s father has not been charged with a crime.

Woytasczyk could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
