Video shows suspected rapist and victim mere moments before he sexually assaults her: Police

British police are on the hunt for a rape suspect in the city of Manchester after an unnamed woman was sexually assaulted outside of a bar on a Sunday morning in April, as reported by Metro UK.

The woman, who is said to be in her 40s, told authorities that she was raped around 4:15 a.m. and eventually found help by knocking at a nearby house, whereupon the resident called her a taxi and she went to the police station.

Investigators have trawled through surveillance footage of the night in question and found video footage of the suspect, both earlier in the night and mere moments before the rape allegedly occurred. They have released these videos to the public in order to gain their help in arresting the alleged rapist.

Detective Constable Julie Tsang told reporters that they have pored through hours of surveillance footage from the area, noting that police have yet to apprehend the suspect.

“We have trawled through all available CCTV and have followed extensive enquiries,” she said.

‘This is an extremely serious offence and despite everything we have done so far, we have not yet been able to speak to the man in the footage.”

She urged the community for support, noting that the neighborhood was filled with people on the night in question, meaning someone could identify the suspect.

“We need to speak to him and, as you can see from the CCTV, a lot of people were outside the bar at the same time as this man,” she said, in remarks obtained by Independent.

“If you think you recognize him, or know a friend who was there at the time and who looks similar to this man, then please also get in touch. It doesn’t matter how trivial the information is, it could be crucial to finding the answers this victim deserves.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
