Police investigate prostitute’s death at home of wealthy political donor accused of pressuring escorts to take lethal amounts of drugs for his pleasure

Los Angeles police have begun an investigation into the death of a 26-year-old male escort in a wealthy political donor’s home, which was initially ruled as an accidental drug overdose.

Gemmel Moore, believed to be a gay male escort, was found dead on July 27 in wealthy Democratic donor Ed Buck’s apartment. Police previously ruled the death as an accidental drug overdose, but witnesses have come forward with information that may suggest Buck has a pattern of pressuring escorts into taking dangerous amount of drugs, reports KTLA.

Los Angeles police say they still need the cooperation of other alleged victims who may be unwilling to come forward because of their participation in illegal activities.

Moore’s mother, Letisha Nixon, told reporters outside of a West Hollywood city council meeting Monday that Buck targeted her son.

“Ed Buck has been soliciting young gay black men. He has them wear these long white ‘under-johns.’ He takes pictures of them. He hits them up with meth. The more meth that they smoke and inject, the more money that he gives them.”

Nixon asked the city council to “put pressure on whoever needs pressure,” so that the truth will come out. She suggested immunity for other escorts who come forward with information on Buck.

KTLA spoke with an alleged victim, who remained anonymous, about what goes on in Buck’s apartment. The victim said that the wealthy donor pays escorts to get high so that he can watch what the drugs do to them.

“He gets his thrills just based off you getting high. He wants to see your reaction. He wants to see how can you take it — if you can handle it or not.”

Nixon pleaded for justice for her son. She said that no matter what his profession, “He still was my son. He still was a person.”

CrimeOnline previously reported that when Moore died, he had flown to Los Angeles from Texas to meet with Buck, but this wasn’t their first meeting. Nixon told the Weho Times that her son flew out to meet Buck about a year ago, and called her from Buck’s apartment hysterical because he had been injected with some unknown drug. She claimed her son filed a police report against Buck after that visit because he held Moore “in his apartment or whatever and had shot him up with a needle with something he didn’t know what it was.”

The newspaper was unable to locate the police report.

Nixon also told the publication that Buck used her son to find other victims for him.

“[Buck] would have my son to go out to… Santa Monica Boulevard looking for young gay black guys so he could inject them with drugs, see their reaction and how [they] would react and take pictures of them.”

The WeHo Times says other alleged victims have come forward anonymously to share their story. One, who went by the name Cameron, told the newspaper that Buck seemed to “get off on getting you higher and higher,” and would offer more money if the men injected more drugs.
