Police in Craig, Colorado are asking the public for help in the case of a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for a year.
Katrina Treacy went missing at 14 years old from Craig, Colorado. She was last seen August 23, 2016, by her mother in their home. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children believes she may have traveled to Aurora, Joplin, Missouri, or Salt Lake City, Utah, reports The Denver Channel.
The now 15-year-old is considered an endangered runaway. The National Crime Center explains, “The classification of endangered means that she is missing under circumstances indicating her physical safety may be in danger.”
Her mother, Jean Robertson, fears for her daughter’s life. She has spent the past year traveling to places her daughter may be, Steamboat Today reports.
“The tears never stop. There hasn’t been a day I haven’t cried.”
She has done everything in her power to search for her daughter, but is disabled, has a limited income and cares for two children still at home, one adult-child and two of her grandsons, which makes it very difficult.
“Financially, I can’t do everything that I want to do.”
A laptop was dropped off on Robertson’s doorstep last year with a note that said, “For Katrina’s mom. I hope it helps.”
Since then, the grieving mother has used the laptop to create posters to hang in areas where her daughter may be, and to create a GoFundMe page to help pay for fuel costs and transportation so she can travel to and from those areas in search for her daughter.
Murray Fenstermacher, owner of Murdawg Motors in Craig, is helping to keep her car from breaking down.
“She doesn’t have any money. Her fuel pump went out, that is her only transportation, so I pulled that out and fixed it.”
In March, Robertson released balloons to honor her daughter turning 15.
The mother says she knows Katrine is alive, and that “she has to be somewhere and someone has to know something.” She sent a message to the 15-year-old, begging her to return.
“Katrina, please come home.”
Treacy is described as being 5-foot-4, and weighing 110 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and black Nike shoes.
Anyone who may have information on Katrina’s whereabouts is urged to call Craig Police Department at 970-826-2360 or Jean Robertson at 970-620-1470.
