Police: Mom plunges to her death after teen son pushes her out of 2nd story mansion window

A Michigan teen was detained after he allegedly pushed his own mother out of a 2nd-story window in their mansion in Farmington Hills on Monday.

The Detroit News reports the the unnamed teen, 16, is a person of interest in the death of Nada Huranieh, 35, after he reportedly shoved her out of the window of their home off of the 36900 block of Howard Street. Authorities found Huranieh dead on Monday morning at around 6:40 a.m., lying lifeless on the patio of her $1.2million home, located around 20 miles from Detroit.

Huranieh, a personal fitness trainer, was in the middle of a divorce with her husband, and lived in the home alone with her 16-year-old son and two daughters, ages 14 and 12. Paramedics and police arrived at the home and tried to revive, but she suffered fatal injuries.

The 16-year-old boy was taken into custody and sent to the Children’s Village, a detention and rehabilitation center for youthful offenders. However, Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus said that at this time, the teen hasn’t been charged, although they are treating the incident as a murder investigation.

“No one has been charged yet but we are treating this as a murder investigation and her son is in custody in connection with this.”

Initially, detectives thought that Huranieh fell accidentally, according to Click On Detroit. Later, after reviewing evidence, authorities felt that the teen boy deliberately pushed his mother to her death. It’s still unclear what evidence or information linked the boy to his mother’s death. Nebus declined to discuss the case further, but he indicated that more information would likely come out in the days ahead during the suspect’s court hearings.

“I’m just shocked,” neighbor Toni Jones said. “I’m totally speechless. I can’t imagine. “Can you imagine what the rest of the family is going through? I cannot. It would be devastating.”
