A Florida woman caused a stir on social media when she posted a selfie and said that if it didn’t reach a certain viral threshold she would abort her unborn baby.
The Twitter user, who goes by the handle @saipainting, announced on the social media site that she was 4 months pregnant. She also said that if the picture that accompanied the pregnancy announcement didn’t receive 4,000 retweets that she would undergo an abortion.

“4 months pregnant. 4K RTs & I won’t abort it,” she wrote on Wednesday.
Due to the threatening nature of the tweet it quickly went viral, with Twitter users calling the woman “despicable” and “sad.”
‘How sad has to be your life to do this?” One user responded to the young woman’s initial tweet. “To let retweets dictate if you’re going to keep your baby or not is just despicable.”
Another user noted the cross she wore across her neck in the photo, alluding to the inherent hypocrisy in being photographed with the religious symbol while threatening abortion.
Many others called the whole thing a hoax and a cheap way to rack up some social media momentum. It worked, to some extent. As of this writing, the tweet has been shared more than 10,000 times.
The tweet also allegedly got the attention of the unborn child’s father.
“Instead of letting me know it was my baby you decided to come on Twitter with this bull***?” Twitter user King Nathan VI asked.
“Sorry you had to find out this way,” she responded.
