Ohio police have arrested a former officer and charged him with a litany of crimes, including sexual assault, as reported by Dayton Daily News.
Former Phillipsburg police officer Justin Sanderson, 32, is alleged to have forced women to engage in sexual activity at an area hotel and at the local police department, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said while announcing the massive 21-count grand jury indictment.
Sanderson’s felony charges include three counts of rape by force or threat of force, two counts of kidnapping for sexual activity, one count of aggravated burglary and seven counts of sexual battery.
All of the above crimes were allegedly committed while he was still a member of the police department in good standing.
“I can’t believe the number of charges,” Councilman Charles Marquis told reporters. “It’s unbelievable to me.”
Prosecutor Heck called the alleged crimes “chilling” and “quite frankly disturbing and nauseating.”
All told, four women have accused the disgraced cop of raping them, two at an area Knights Hotel and two at the Phillipsburg police station, according to WLWT.
“Who knows how many other women may have been victimized before this defendant was caught?” Heck said.
According to records, this isn’t the first time Sanderson has been called out for taking advantage of his position as a police officer.
The Dayton Daily News reports that he has faced numerous citations for showing “a pattern of doing the bare minimum and a disregard of established rules,” even being accused of showing female officers pictures of his erect penis.
If convicted, Sanderson could face life in prison. Authorities are urging other potential victims to come forward.
“If there is anyone out there, any other potential victims who are out there who had any kind of contact with this defendant and have been taken advantage of, then we need to hear from them immediately,” Heck said.
