Woman produces sexually explicit videos with a 5-year-old, blames it on domestic abuse

An Arlington, Texas, woman who included a young child in her explicit videos was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday.

The Waxahachie Daily Light reports that Miranda Renea Kelso, 25, will serve two years in jail for indecency with a child by exposure and three years for indecency with a child. The two sentences will run concurrently.

The Ellis County District Attorney’s Office said one of the explicit videos depicted Kelso instructing the child—who was younger than five—to touch her breast. Another video showed the 25-year-old masturbating while the child sat mere inches away, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The woman’s relationship to the victim is unclear at this time.

In court, Kelso claimed that she was forced into making the videos and that she was a victim of domestic violence. Prosecutors rejected this defense, noting that Kelso’s supposed abuser wasn’t anywhere near her when she produced the unsettling videos and that she partook in sadomasochism. For reference, sadomasochism is defined by Psychology Today as “the giving or receiving of pleasure, often sexual, from the infliction or reception of pain or humiliation.”

“I want to thank the jurors for rejecting the outrageous and offensive claim put forth by the defense in this case,” Ellis County & District Attorney Patrick Wilson said in a statement.

“To claim domestic violence as a shield against child molestation is disrespectful to the real victim in this case and to all victims of domestic violence.”
