A New Castle County Grand Jury in Delaware indicted a man on several counts for repeatedly raping an underage girl over a period of 5 years.
USA Today reports that Richard “Ricky” White Jr., 41, was indicted on 11 counts of second-degree rape and possession of child pornography among other charges.
Police estimate that White had sex with the girl at least 250 times in past five years, starting when she was just 12 years old.
The victim told police that she and White began exchanging texts in the fall of 2012. The conversations eventually took a sexually explicit turn when the man began to ask about her sexual experiences.
At one point, White picked the 12-year-old up from her home after school and took her back to his house. The two were watching television when White began to kiss the girl. He then had sex with her, sparking a five-year relationship between the two. White would have sex with the girl sometimes on a weekly basis.
The sexual encounters began at his home, but after he was arrested and jailed for drunk driving, he started meeting her in the woods. When he lost his home at one point, reportedly began bringing her to Popeyes fast food restaurant for sex behind the building. Subsequent encounters allegedly took place at a Delcastle Recreational Park and a Royal Farms after the girl began driving.
White reportedly took photos and videos of the two having sex, and would have her Facetime video chat him while she took showers, often on a nightly basis.
The victim told police she tried to end the relationship, but she felt “obligated” and “threatened” by the 41-year-old. White would threaten to kill himself or expose the videos and pictures of them having sex if she tried to call things off.
Police say they found messages sent from the girl that indicated she wanted the sexual encounters to end and showed that she told White she was scared of him and asked him not to contact her. She eventually told someone who went to the police for help.
White is being held in the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington on numerous charges, including 11 counts of second-degree rape, dangerous crime against a child, sexual solicitation of a child, four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, continuous abuse of a child, dealing in child pornography and six counts of possessing child pornography.
