Teen shoots mother in the head, killing her, because she wouldn’t let him have a puppy: Police

A Michigan teenager has been charged with murdering his mother because she wouldn’t let him keep a puppy.

The New York Post reports that Andrew Wilson, 19, was arrested on charges that he fatally shot his mother, 51-year-old Lisa Marie Willson, in her Wheatfield Township home.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Wilson called police early Friday morning to say that he arrived home to find his mother shot to death. Responding officers found Lisa Marie Wilson in her bed, dead of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Ingham County Sheriff’s Detective Charles Buckland testified at the suspect’s arraignment that investigators determined no one besides the victim’s teenage son could have been at the home at the time she was shot.

Detective Buckland also said that just prior to the mother’s murder, she and her son had gotten into an argument about a puppy he had brought home a few weeks prior. Lisa Marie Wilson reportedly told her son the puppy would have to live with his father in Dansville.

The teen reportedly confessed to detectives that he shot his mother in the head in her sleep with a .22 Magnum rifle that was kept locked in the home. He then went for a drive and recovered the weapon, which investigators later recovered.

Andrew Wilson has been charged with murder and felony firearm possession. He reportedly has no prior criminal history.

He is being held without bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for later this month.
