Ashanti Billie

Police: Virginia Beach college student missing, phone found in dumpster

Virginia police are searching for a missing 19-year-old woman in Virginia Beach.

Ashanti Markaila Billie, 19, was reported missing after she did not show up for work at her place of employment near Shore Drive, and did not show up for her classes at the Art Institute of Virginia Beach, according to a report by 13 News Now.

Her parents,  Meltony and Brandy Billie, say they haven’t spoken with their daughter since Sunday. Meltony said, “It’s a nightmare. I would never wish this on no one.”

Police are considering her disappearance suspicious because some of her belongings were found in Norfolk. Her parents say her phone was among the belongings.

“The phone was found roughly about 4 miles from the last position we knew she was at. It was in a dumpster.”

Ashanti was last seen around 4 a.m. Monday morning in the 4400 block of Bonney Road, Midtown at Town Center Apartments.

She is described as being 4’11” and weighing around 133 pounds.

Ashanti may be driving a 2014 cream color Mini Cooper with Maryland license plate 2CX-0575.

Police and Ashanti’s parents are now asking the public’s help in locating the 19-year-old. Brandy pleaded, “I just want my baby home. Anybody if you’ve seen or heard anything, even if you think you saw something, please.”

Anyone who may have information on Ashanti’s disappearance or whereabouts, or her Mini Cooper, are urged to call Virginia Beach Police investigators at (757) 385-5000 or your local police department.

Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
