‘Without her we are lost’: Young woman goes missing after being seen stepping into mysterious car

North Carolina police are desperately searching for a young woman who went missing under mysterious circumstances three weeks ago, as reported by WPDE.

Abby Patterson, 20, was last seen on September 5 getting into a brown Buick in Lumberton, police note. Identifying the vehicle and its owner has become a central component in the investigation into her disappearance.

Captain Terry Parker has noted that the 20-year-old was wearing brown shorts and a white shirt on the day she went missing. He also noted that she has a birth mark on the back left thigh and a bird tattoo on her shoulder. She is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Her family told police they have never lost contact with her before and confirmed that they have not heard from her since the day she went missing.

A member of the Patterson family spoke to WMBF and could barely contain their grief.

“Abby is a light to everyone that knows her, and without her we are lost. We pray that whoever might know something about her whereabouts will come forward, even if they choose to remain anonymous. She is not just a missing person- she is a missing daughter, a missing sister, a missing granddaughter, and a missing piece of so many people’s heart.”

Patterson’s family and friends are offering a $5,000 reward for information related to her whereabouts.

Anyone with knowledge of the case is asked to call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845 and ask for Detective’s Williford or Evans.
