Man allegedly rapes neighbor, threatens to kill her in front of her young son and then asks to delay calling police so he can ‘down a couple beers’

The suspect allegedly warned the victim to “pretend to enjoy this” or he would kill her in front of her son

A Missouri rape suspect allegedly asked his victim for more time before she called the police so he could drink beer before being arrested.

Fox 4 News reports that Russell L. Burd, 45, is accused a raping a woman at her home in Independence — while her 3-year-old child was present. According to court documents obtained by the news station, the victim told police that Burd is her upstairs neighbor, and appeared at her door at 4 a.m. on October 7, appearing drunk and asking to talk.

The woman then saw he was holding multiple sets of handcuffs and cloth items, and she began to push and kick him to protect herself. Burd then allegedly forced his way into her apartment, handcuffed her, and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect allegedly ordered the woman to  “pretend to enjoy this or I will kill you in front of your son.”

Once he had raped her, the suspect allegedly asked for “a little time before you contact the cops so I can down a couple beers before I go to jail.”

Burd was arrested at the home and was reportedly combative with law enforcement.

The suspect has been charged with 1st degree rape, 3rd degree kidnapping, 1st degree sexual abuse, and 2nd degree burglary. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
