‘Mom’ allegedly throws baby from 6th floor balcony, killing him: Police

The 23-year-old woman has been charged with murder

A 18-month-old boy is dead after his mother allegedly threw him from a balcony on the sixth floor of an apartment building.

The Mirror reports that Gemma Procter, 23, has been arrested for murder after her toddler son Elliot Procter plunged from a balcony in West Yorkshire, England.

Witnesses reportedly told police that they saw the naked toddler fall from onto concrete at Newcastle House on Saturday. Despite emergency lifesaving attempts, the toddler was pronounced dead.

Procter has denied murdering her son, and her lawyer, Sajad Chaudhury, has made an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

“There are certain things they could have seen,” he said, according to the Sun.

“People may have thought them insignificant but, for us, they may be significant.”

District Judge Michael Fanning has reportedly lifted reporting restrictions on the case, why are typically strict in the UK, in order to help secure witnesses.

Detective Superintendent Nick Wallen told the Mirror that the investigation is ongoing, and noted that witnesses have been emotionally disturbed by observing the baby’s horrific death.

“It is no exaggeration to say those who witnessed this incident will have been deeply traumatised by what they saw,” Wallen said.

“Although we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what took place or have information who has not yet come forwards.”
