Man severely beats 3-year-old who clings to life for three days before dying from injuries: Cops

Authorities in Missouri have arrested a man on suspicion that he fatally abused a toddler late last month.

According to the Joplin Globe, 22-year-old Jalen Da’Shawn Vaden was booked into Jasper County jail Wednesday as part of an investigation into the death of 3-year-old Jayda Kyle.

The girl died Friday afternoon, three days after police responded to a call from her Carl Junction home.

Reports indicate she was neither breathing nor conscious when authorities arrived. It was the first time police had been called to the home, according to records.

Kyle was transported from the residence to an area hospital via ambulance. From there, she was airlifted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she died.

Investigators believe Vaden caused her death through physical abuse.

Medical examiners performed an autopsy on the victim earlier this week and concluded the cause of death was traumatic head injury.

Vaden’s arrest came after authorities conducted interviews with both him and the victim’s mother. The two were reportedly in a relationship.

Carl Junction Police Chief Delmar Hasse noted that his officers had not reported an encounter with either individual prior to the toddler’s death, according to KOAM.

Jasper County prosecutors are preparing an indictment in the case and are expected to charge him with child abuse resulting in death.

Kyle’s family confirmed her organs were donated to patients in need of transplants. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Midwest Transplant Network are requested in her memory.
