Pregnant woman loses baby after doctor boyfriend slips pill in her drink: Investigators

A Virginia man was arrested on suspicion of illegally causing his girlfriend’s abortion.

According to the New York Daily News, Sikander Imran, a doctor, allegedly ground up a pill that caused his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Brook Fiske, to miscarry her pregnancy.

The New York woman was reportedly more than four months pregnant when she traveled to Arlington, Virginia, to discuss their unborn child. Imran moved to the area for work prior to learning Fiske was pregnant.

WROC reported that the doctor wanted his girlfriend to end the pregnancy, but she was determined to have the child.

Fiske claims his determination played out in criminal fashion when he poisoned her drink.

“When I was drinking my tea in the evening I got to the bottom of the cup,” she said. “There was a gritty substance in there and when I looked at it, I could tell that it was a pill that had been ground up.”

Not long after that, she reportedly began having contractions. At that point, she said Imran confessed.

“He immediately started crying and said that he was a horrible person and that he had done what I thought he did,” Fiske said.

After arriving at an area hospital, she was informed that her unborn child had died.

Subsequent examination reportedly found she had ingested Misoprostol, an abortion-inducing drug.

“According to the nurse at the hospital it’s 200 milligrams to induce labor,” Fiske said. “So he gave me 800.”

Authorities indicate Imran was arrested earlier this year and faces charges of causing abortion and premeditated killing of a fetus. His trial is set to begin in March.
