Five-year-old boy brutally beaten because he opened a Christmas present early: Police

“Wesley hurt me bad mama,’ is all he kept saying,” the boy’s mother wrote on Facebook

A little boy in Oklahoma allegedly suffered a beating at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend because the five-year-old opened a Christmas present a few days early.

KJRH reports that Wesley McCollum, 25, has been arrested and charged with child abuse and child neglect after the boy’s mother came home from shopping on Saturday to find that her son was covered in bruises and welts on his arms, back, and face.

The boy’s mother, who lives in Okmulgee, told the news outlet that McCollum told her that he wanted to teach the boy a lesson after he opened a Christmas present before the holiday.

The mother also reportedly wrote about the incident in a Facebook post.

“Words cannot explain seeing your baby like this and having no clue what happened. I ran to him like any mother would do crying, hugging him, begging what happened. ‘Wesley hurt me bad mama,’ is all he kept saying,” she wrote.

“For a grown man to punch a child over and over and slap him and beat him with a belt ALL over is no man at all …. He is the lowest scum on earth…”

The woman told KJRH that she filed a protective order against McCollum on Monday.
