Suspect tells cops she pulled butcher knife on boyfriend and ‘he happened to walk into it’: Reports

A Florida woman is in jail and her boyfriend is being treated for serious injuries after what both reportedly claim was a bizarre suicide attempt.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the incident occurred Thursday afternoon at 30-year-old Carly Ann Del Valle’s West Palm Beach home.

Police responded to the location after receiving a report of a suicide attempt and found the home was not only covered in blood from the unidentified man’s extensive injuries, but also littered with broken electronics and other apparent signs of a disturbance, WPEC reported.

Blood was found throughout the home and on the patio, according to reports, as well as a destroyed cellphone near the home’s front door.

Del Valle reportedly told investigators that she was holding a butcher knife when the man walked into it, allegedly in an attempt to kill himself.

According to authorities, the victim was writhing on the floor and screaming from pain when first responders arrived. He was transported from the scene to the trauma ward of an area hospital.

Reports indicate Del Valle, who has a criminal history involving domestic violence, claimed she retrieved the knife from a kitchen drawer and the man “happened to walk into it stabbing himself in the stomach.”

The victim reportedly absolved her of any role in his injuries. Police documents show he told investigators the stabbing was self-inflicted and “Del Valle had nothing to do with it.”

Hospital officials did not immediately release his condition, but he reportedly required emergency surgery due to suspected internal bleeding.

Del Valle was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and jailed with bond set at $5,000.
