A New York man has been found guilty of several crimes, including felony coercion, after he forced his girlfriend, and the mother of his child, to walk naked around on a New York City street in winter, as reported by NY Daily News.
Jasson Melo, 26, recorded a video of the humiliation of the unnamed 22-year-old woman on a January morning in 2016. He forced her to strip naked and walk around the couple’s Harlem block after he verbally berated her and physically abused her, all while their infant was nearby, as previously reported by CrimeOnline.
The video of the incident made its way online and, according to investigators, the footage finds the 26-year-old screaming at his girlfriend in Spanish and calling her a “whore,” in addition to threatening to throw a statue of the Buddha at her.

Justice Robert Mandelbaum handed Melo a jail sentence of 2 1/3 to 7 years on Wednesday.
“Jason Melo’s view of women belongs to the Dark Ages,” Mandelbaum said.
“To him, women are property.”
Melo lashed out as his girlfriend because she had been flirting with other guys via text. As CrimeOnline previously reported, he claimed in court that the woman had begged him for forgiveness and said she would do whatever he wanted as punishment.
“He didn’t handle it properly. There were lawful ways to deal with this matter,” his lawyer, Theodore Herlich, said as he argued unsuccessfully for a lighter sentence.
“But he didn’t do it for sport.”
The victim released a statement to NY Daily News and described the harrowing ordeal.
“The pain and emotions were and still are unexplainable and unimaginable,” she wrote.
“Mr. Melo destroyed me in so many ways, and didn’t stop as he would continuously taunt me as if his nightmare was his sick joke.”
According to onlookers, Melo blew kisses at the victim and her family as he was issued his sentence.
