Killer stabs teen girl, sniffs bloody knife, stuffs body in playpen — then offers to sell playpen to victim’s mother

An Ohio man has been sentenced to 62 years to life in jail after pleading guilty to multiple charges in connection to the murder of 16-year-old Gina Burger in June 2014.

According to WFMJ, Ricki Williams IV pleaded guilty to eight charges including kidnapping, intimidation, and aggravated murder in a plea bargain that would spare him the death sentence.

Williams admitted to the sadistic killing of Burger, who was stabbed to death at Compass West apartments in Youngstown, where Burger is believed to have lived. Burger’s biological mother Jacqueline Bacher told CBS Pittsburgh that her daughter had gone to a neighbor’s apartment to borrow some tea. Williams was at the apartment at the time, reportedly visiting Ronisha Johnson, and murdered the teen there. Johnson later helped Williams conceal the body — claiming he forced her to.

Johnson had been charged with obstruction of justice but the charges were dropped in exchange for her testimony. She reportedly told investigators that she watched Williams stab the teen girl in the chest as she pleaded for her life, before pulling the knife from her body and sniffing it as Burger collapsed. Johnson then said she helped him conceal Burger’s body in a portable playpen and dispose of it in the trash.

Bacher, who died in November 2014, just a few months after her daughter’s murder, reportedly told investigators that she saw Williams carrying the playpen, which she would later learn were holding her daughter’s remains, and that he offered to sell it to her.

Burger was found two days later in a landfill, discovered by sanitation workers. Williams was arrested shortly after the discovery and charged with Burger’s murder.

“I think we’re fortunate we only have one homicide right now, to be honest with you,” Austintown police chief Robert Gavalier told reporters at the time.

Williams, now 22, will be eligible for parole when he is 80 years old.
