School suspends girl allegedly raped by 3 teens, one with with HIV, gonorrhea

A 14-year-old Miami girl was raped in a high school bathroom by three teen boys, including two who have sexually transmitted diseases, WSVN-TV reports.

The ninth-grader told the television station the first encounter involved a boy who grabbed her sweater and wouldn’t let her go, and then forced her to have anal sex in a bathroom at Miami Carol City Senior High School.

She says word got out about what happened and other teens starting approaching her for sex.

“The third time, it was after school, and I was supposed to stay after school for math, for math tutoring, and there was a guy asking me if I could go to the restroom with him,” the teen said.

After two boys forced her to engage in oral sex, she reported the incidents to a teacher in October. In a statement, the girl wrote that one of the perpetrators “grabbed me tightly by my hand, and he got me into the boys’ bathroom … I couldn’t breathe. I [was] choking and crying.”

School officials not only suspended the boys, but also the victim, according to the television station.

“I felt like they would really just take the guys’ side, and they would just believe them, leave me out and say that, you know, it was all my fault,” the girl said.

Then the girl’s mother got devastating news: Two of the boys, she was told, have sexually transmitted diseases.

“And Thursday is when the investigator showed up at my house at 7 o’clock at night to let me know one of these kids was HIV-positive and the other one has gonorrhea,” the mother said.

The mother said it would take a year to confirm whether her daughter has HIV. Assuming the worst, doctors have already put the girl on medication.

“She’s only 14 years old. How do you explain to your 14-year-old that she’s gonna have something that she can’t get a cure for?” the mother said.

The school district said it is investigating the girl’s allegations and that state child welfare officials are involved. Prosecutors will determine whether criminal charges are warranted. The victim said she can’t fathom going back to the school where the rapes occurred. She wants to transfer to different school, but her mother says the school district is making that change difficult.

In the meantime, the girl says her life will never be the same.

“I’m getting therapy, and you know, I can’t sleep at night sometimes, and I really hope this doesn’t happen to any other girl,” the victim said. “This shouldn’t happen to any other girl or boy.”
