26-year-old woman leaps to her death from Manhattan high-rise

A young woman is dead of an apparent suicide after she reportedly plunged to her death from a 39-story apartment building.

According to the New York Daily News, the woman, who has not yet been identified, leapt to her death just before 7 a.m. Monday morning. The building, Clinton Towers, is at 54th Street and 11th Avenue on Manhattan’s west side. It is not known what floor the woman was on before she died.

A security guard at the building, Richard Ababio, told the Daily News that he was very familiar with the victim, who he said frequently visited her girlfriend, a resident of the building.

“I know her very well,” Ababio said. “It’s so sad. I don’t know how some people do that.”

“She was a very friendly, beautiful woman.”
